For over two decades, we have collaborated closely with friends, family, and colleagues in a shared mission to serve marginalized families in need. Our efforts center on building and enhancing homes, ensuring they are safe and secure environments. We focus on providing essential necessities such as electricity, access to clean water, functional bathrooms, and comfortable beds.
Beyond improving living conditions, we have extended our support to include resources for food, education, and both medical and dental care. Our commitment further encompasses food distribution to households and individuals in dire need.
At the core of our work lies a deep sense of purpose: to serve Christ and spread His message. We strive for this message to take root and flourish among those we serve, empowering them to carry it forward within their own communities.

Acts 20:35 says, 'In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak', remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive'. Then, in Matthew 25:40, Jesus states, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” These messages highlight that acts of kindness and support towards those in need are directly linked to how we treat Christ Himself! We also believe lifting others also lifts our own greater purpose on this earth for abundant unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to impact all of humanity and the Kingdom of God that is within each of us and works as a positive collaboration for all of us.

During the recent trip to Nicaragua at the beginning of December, I met David Martinez, a local pastor who also works with water wells. He led us in prayer here before the work began and I take you on a tour here of Diego's property and the inside of the home before with dirt floors and after with concrete.
Meanwhile, we learned the existing water well could be manually excavated and deepened to reach additional ground water rather than creating an entirely new one. You can see here, a man bravely shimmied himself about 90 feet down the well to fill buckets of earth one by one to be lifted out and piled on the ground (pictured). We are still hopeful and praying that the water will soon flow as it is still a work in progress, much like our fundraising. Though we only raised 40% of our goal, we're confident God will show us the way!
With the $3,000 we received (40% of our goal incl $2,000 from a single donor), the dirt floor was raised with a truckload of dirt to level the ground and tamped before mixing and pouring the concrete by hand, here. A new stove with oven as well as a microwave were delivered two days before Christmas for this family to cook indoors for the first time! The windows and floor tile are temporarily on hold but the work already done is improving daily life, health, and stability for Diego and his family. They are very grateful for your generosity and feel so blessed!

Our current work surrounds a family of three generations living under one roof. A chance meeting; or more likely a divine appointment; brought Arial, whom I sponsored first in Nicaragua, Mario, my friend and helper for almost 20 years, and Jose, who has become my contractor; together where they worked on a farm with Blanca. We met at Blanca’s home where she lives with her parents Diego and Adella, her sister, and two sons. Visiting the home I got to know them. They are active in their church, which is just a short walk from their dwelling. I saw that their latrine was about 75 feet from the house and not much more than some wood and plastic with a cement hole (pictured) and bathing was done using a 5-gallon bucket behind two black plastic barriers for privacy.
After seeing this, I knew this was the next project and happy to share we are about 50% complete. Jose is performing all aspects of the upgrading. We added an attached bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower, septic system, 250-gallon water tank, water pump, and replaced the front overhang on the house (pictured). Though, they still have to supplement with poor quality water for the tank (pictured) from a not-so-near-by-creek.
There remains much more to do to make this a livable and functional home with the goal to finish by the time I return from the next trip in December. With your help, we'll replace their dry well that will supply healthy water and allow them to irrigate their small farm as well as install a few windows with screens, tile the dirt floors, upgrade the poor electricity, and add a couple of appliances to be able to cook indoors.

On Christmas Day 2019, our close friend and longtime partner in ministry, Mario, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident and left behind his wife Leslie, and children, Lesmary and Jafed who were 4 and 6 years old at the time. For over fifteen years, he faithfully supported community outreach efforts—assisting with transportation, interpretation, food distribution, and construction projects that improved living conditions for countless families.
Before his passing, we helped him make payments on a small plot of land with the dream of building a safe home for their family. Through the generosity of supporters, one-third of the total funds needed was raised by March 2022, finishing the land purchase and construction of their new home.
Today, the mission continues to provide Mario’s widow and children with tuition assistance and medical costs when needed. His children are excelling in school and growing up in a secure, hope-filled environment. Their story reflects the enduring power of faith, community, and compassionate action to create lasting change.
See Mario's property tour with John before—and after his dream came true—with his memorial, here.

My first mission trip to Nicaragua was in January 2003 where our team was focused on community support. A group of local children gathered to watch our activities and among them was Arial, a boy whose quiet curiosity stood out. Soon after, a visit to his home nearby were living conditions below any poverty I had witnessed—a two-room structure of scrap wood, corrugated metal, and plastic sheeting, furnished only with two plastic lawn chairs and makeshift beds for Arial, his mother, and three sisters. They cooked their meals outdoors in a single pot over a fire with sticks between a few cinder blocks.
These circumstances deeply moved me to change the trajectory of their future beyond temporary handouts. Within two years, guided by God and supported by my friends and my employer, we built and furnished a new home for Arial's family. We continued support to ensure the children could attend and finish school and have access to basic necessities until working on their own.
The impact is clear and ever-lasting and the bond with Arial's family remains strong more than 20 years later as we still spend time together when I am in Nicaragua. This has shaped my efforts for others to this day and 50 trips later.

For over two decades, we have united with friends, family, and colleagues to serve disadvantaged families by improving living conditions and fostering lasting change. Our purpose is to empower families to break the cycle of poverty through work opportunities, a little comfort, and alot of hope with what is possible in their lives. Guided by our commitment to Christ, we aim not only to meet physical needs but also to nurture spiritual growth, so His message may take root and flourish within the communities we serve. As we look to the future, we're inviting corporate sponsors, churches, and mission-minded organizations to join us in this growing work, linking arms so that together we can bring lasting meaningful opportunity to even more families.
This is an example of a family of four living in a 250-square-foot shed they call home — a single room with one cardboard bed they share and no bathroom, kitchen, or reliable electricity. Despite their difficult circumstances, their resilience shines through each day. They make the best of it but dream of a safe place to sleep, clean water to drink, and the simple dignity of a functioning home. With your support, we can help transform living conditions such as these to restore hope for a better future.
